The entire state of Iowa is in a heat advisory for this weekend- and if you’re in western Iowa, the heat is going to be so extreme that going outside will be ill-advised. Apparently, Mother Nature wanted to kick off summer by turning up the heat lamp all the way to the max. Dr. Justin Glisan, state climatologist for Iowa, said a few factors are combining to create intense heat indices.
Interestingly enough, Glisan said there will also be a lot of wind coming out of the south, which is something that isn’t necessarily expected when heat events like this happen.
That wind might end up being our saving grace and at least make it feel a little less intense.
Even with that slight relief, Glisan said he does not recommend going outside if you can avoid it.
