Benson Hill recently named the 2024 winner of the Mockler Innovator Award, which honors the legacy of Benson Hill’s co-founder, the late Todd Mockler, PhD. The award is for a technology leader who has made substantial contributions to the company through creative problem solving, scientific excellence, and an entrepreneurial mindset. This year’s recipient was Bob Koester, director of breeding and trait introgression with Benson Hill. As someone who previously worked with Mockler during his career, Koester said it’s an extreme honor to receive this award.

Koester has been at Benson Hill for seven years, and while some of his early career work was in corn, he said he’s glad to be firmly in soybeans now.

Through his position at Benson Hill, Koester said he’s been able to have a unique seat to watch seed technology improve almost exponentially.

Koester also highlighted some new technologies that growers can look forward to integrating into their operations.
