The demand for beef remains high in the United States. Supplies are tight after drought conditions forced the culling of many herds. As we are working to rebuild the supply, producers are looking at all kinds of options as they come back.
Purina is talking about one of those options with their beef on dairy cross breeding. Dr. Olivia Genther-Schroeder is a Senior Manager of Dairy Feed Research & Development. She talks about what this crossbreeding program can do.
One thing that is a big difference between cattle for beef production and cattle for dairy production is their diets. We raise them for different reasons. Dr. Genther-Schroeder talks about how the diet works when you are doing more crossbreeding of these cattle.
But success in this new facet of beef on dairy production goes beyond just the diet. There are many other things that need to be considered.
