BASF has many weed control options for 2022

Weed control certainly looks different than it did in years past. Many of us remember walking fields, cultivating, or riding on a boom and spot spraying unwanted plants in the crops. Nowadays, we have come to rely more on technology. Chemistry and full weed control programs have made things a little easier, but there is still the challenge of keeping ahead of weed resistance. The game always must change as weeds always find ways to adapt. Sometimes we must think outside the box, or even go a little old school in our methodology. BASF has long been a proponent of multiple options when it comes to eradicating weeds, and they are ready to talk about what?s in store for 2022.

Nick Fassler is with BASF. He talks about the flexibility that they can offer farmers, no matter what program they use.

Fassler says as you are out in the fields this fall, take stock once again of any weed pressure in the fields. It is one of the first times you can collect data for next year?s weed control program. Also, remember that environmental conditions play a part in weed resistance. Take stock of your conditions from this past growing season, and work with your agronomist to find a weed program that is right for you.

Fassler talks about the flexibility in their Zidua portfolio. It has options for both corn and soybeans for going after stubborn weeds like Waterhemp and Palmer Amaranth. It is residual capabilities that can be used for pre-or post-emergence.

Of course, there is also still the two stars of any weed control program: Liberty and XtendFlex.

Weed control isn?t just about laying some spray down, it is about sometimes getting your hands dirty. That is all part of their Operation Weed Eradication program.
