Axne discusses legislation that gives farmers time to adapt

When it comes to government regulations, they aren?t always put through at the most convenient time. We recently saw changes and restrictions by EPA on Dicamba in June 2020. This decision came right at the time that farmers were getting ready to spray the product on their fields. This caused problems because farmers didn?t have enough time to get new supplies of product or they were already spraying. This, of course, is just one example of the situation we are trying to address. It is not for opening a dicamba debate.

Iowa Third District Congresswoman Cindy Axne is signed on with a bipartisan piece of legislation called the Farmers Deserve Notification Act that would provide farmers adequate time to adapt to new restrictions put forth by the EPA, and not to have them be surprised right in the middle of the season. Axne talked about the situation this legislation addresses.

Axne says that farmers don?t need non-emergency orders putting them behind the 8-ball and costing them even more money.

Axne talks about the fact that EPA, like many agencies, doesn?t think about impact. They are sitting in a vacuum sometimes, and don?t think about the consequences.
