ARC/PLC Deadline is one week away

by | Mar 8, 2022 | 5 Ag Stories, News

Procrastination is no longer your friend. There is no longer any time to ?do it later.? We are one week away from the deadline to choose your crop insurance program for the 2022 growing season. And for producers who haven?t found the time, time is almost out.

Matt Russell is the Iowa USDA FSA Executive Director. He reminds producers that the deadline for ARC/PLC signup is next Tuesday, March 15th. Many producers may feel that prices are high enough that the chances of needing the safety net are very low. Russell says that while those odds may be low, it is not a wise idea to skip your signup.

Russell says if you miss the deadline of March 15th, you can still signup for programs. However, you will be stuck with what you selected in the 2021 crop year.

If you are uncertain about what option may be best for you, Russell encourages you to reach out to Iowa State University Extension. They can help you crunch those numbers. FSA cannot and will not recommend one program or the other for your operation. You need to do the research on your own.

If you decide that what you had last year is still going to work for this year, you still need to sign up.

With a week left, you need to make an appointment at your country FSA office now. Not tomorrow. Not at the end of the week. Now.
