Ag group asks Congress to evaluate trade policy in Farm Bill

Today we are one month from the deadline of the Farm Bill. We need to have the 2023 Farm Bill in place or extend the current bill until a new Farm Bill is voted on. All recent signs point to the fact that the new legislation is on the front burner, but there is only a handful of congressional members who think the deadline can be made.

No matter when the deal is struck, there are still groups asking for changes or evaluations of current policies. One of those groups is the Rural and Agriculture Council of America. Spokesperson Jess Peterson says that we need to make sure that our farm policy bolsters our farmers, not the ag industries of other countries.

Peterson says that the playing field needs to be leveled in the next Farm Bill.

The Farm Bill is still waiting for floor time in both chambers of Congress.
