Today, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced actions temporarily allowing farmers to use non-taxed, off-road diesel in agricultural and trucking equipment that support on-road harvest activities. The action will provide some federal and state fuel tax relief for farmers facing high diesel prices during harvest.

This follows yesterday’s announcement and signing of an executive order by President Trump which provides temporary diesel tax relief by expanding access to red-dyed (off-road) diesel fuel.

United States Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) says that these federal and state government actions will save Iowa’s farmers money during the harvest season.Red-dyed diesel is normally restricted to use on farm, in construction, and other off-road uses.

In other news, Senator Grassley also discussed some of the changes to the ARC and PLC programs.

Senator Grassley made his comments on Tuesday during his weekly ag conference call with farm broadcasters and reporters.
