The Iowa State Fair brings in visitors from all over, and one visitor to the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network broadcast shed came down from all the way up north. Ron Kustyshyn, Minister of Agriculture for Manitoba, Canada, visited the Iowa State Fair after being invited by Annette Sweeney, a member of the Iowa Senate. Kustyshyn said it’s important to foster relationships like this.
Kustyshyn said the Iowa State Fair provides an excellent opportunity to educate people about the ag industry in Iowa and beyond.
Kustyshyn said the ag production in Manitoba is actually quite similar to the production in Iowa.
Beef production has gone way down in Manitoba, and Kustyshyn said it’s up to the younger generations to make a change.
Fortunately, Kustyshyn said he has been trying to make it easier for those younger generations to return to the farm.
