The Iowa State Fair is finally back and kicking off tomorrow, August 7th. It’s still the same great event that it’s always been, but fairgoers will notice some thoughtful improvements this year. Areas like the kid’s playgrounds have been made more accessible, and there are even more shaded areas to sit under across the fairgrounds. On the ag side of things, the horse barn has seen some needed renovations. Iowa State Fair CEO Jeremy Parsons said the barns have been updated to be more convenient for both fairgoers and exhibitors.
Parsons said some more significant changes, like heated floors, will be made once this year’s fair is over.
The sheep barn was last year’s project, and fairgoers can admire the beautifully restored entrance on the east side of the barn. Following the horse barn, Parsons said the cattle and swine barns will be updated next.
