On Saturday evening, the U.S. Senate confirmed Luke Lindberg as USDA Undersecretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs on a vote of 77-18. U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) President and CEO Dan Halstrom said there was strong bipartisan support in the Senate, and he is glad to have Lindberg’s expertise on trade issues and his passion for expanding agricultural exports.
Halstrom said it’s also important for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to be at full strength and urged the Senate to move quickly on President Trump’s nominee for chief agricultural negotiator, Dr. Julie Callahan.
