As the Trump tax bill now moves to the Senate for consideration, the ag world will be watching to see what revisions are made to the farm bill improvements included in the House version of the bill. House Ag Chair GT Thompson last week touted the Trump tax cuts, death tax exemption, and improvements made to the farm safety net in the House approved version.
On Tuesday, United States Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) was asked during his weekly ag conference call about potential Senate revisions to the House farm bill improvements in the “One Big Beautiful Bill”.
While Grassley says he is still focused on the knock-on effects for the five-year farm bill, he acknowledges the immediate help provided to farmers in the tax bill’s farm bill provisions.
Grassley was also asked if the death tax could be eliminated by the Senate as part of reconciliation.
Senator Grassley made his comments on Tuesday during his weekly ag conference call with farm broadcasters and reporters.
