On Monday the state of Iowa was hit with widespread thunderstorms that delivered considerable rainfall to large swaths of the state. Before the storms however, a one-to-two-week window of favorable weather conditions allowed growers to get a lot of seed in the ground and begin thinking about dealing with post emergence weeds.
Ryan Steffensen is a branch manager with Helena Agri Enterprises in Guthrie Center and Adair, Iowa and covers portions of western Iowa. He says that when preparing for tough to deal with weeds this growing season, one weed is always top of mind.
Steffensen says that trait innovations from seed partners have delivered flexibility to growers in dealing with tough to control, resistant weeds. He adds that adjuvants have also given farmers the tools to optimize herbicide activity.
He says that adjuvants deliver increased coverage for farmers and help to improve the efficacy of herbicides regardless of water quality.
