Warm and dry weather allowed for wide-open planting window

Iowa farmers have been treated to a mostly wide-open window for planting season this year, with warm and dry weather allowing for great working conditions. With most of the crops in the ground, we’re now hoping for some rain- and it looks like those prayers will be answered. Justin Glisan, state climatologist for Iowa, said that most of planting season has been defined by pleasant, unseasonably warm weather.

There’s a good amount of rain in the forecast for this week, and Glisan said this couldn’t come at a much better time.

As always, Glisan said he encourages farmers to get in touch with his office and report on what conditions they are seeing in their area.
