At this point, it is very likely that the 2018 farm bill will get extended for another year. This is not what the ag industry was hoping for, but that doesn’t mean that the battle is over. Iowa Cattlemen’s Association CEO Bryan Whaley said the ag industry needs to keep pushing for a new farm bill.
Whaley said it is good for the Iowa cattle industry to see all of the familiar Iowa faces return in the Senate and Congress, as the ICA has strong relationships with each of them.
Whaley said they are also pleased with the state-level government, where there are many strong advocates for Iowa agriculture.
