The best promotion we can ask for is the word of those in the fields and feedlots across our country, advocating for the producers. Telling the first-hand story of the American farmer resonates with our customers domestically and internationally. As the second largest ag-producing state, Iowa boasts many farmers who are taking the time to get involved in leadership roles at the local, state, and national levels.
April Hemmes is a Hampton, Iowa farmer who has spent the better part of a decade working with the United Soybean Board (USB) to help use checkoff dollars to promote our products all over the world. As a farmer-leader, she has seen a lot of improvement over her time. Hemmes reflected, with pride, on what she had seen accomplished, starting with things like conservation.
Hemmes talks about the return on investment that the Soybean Checkoff has been able to deliver to America’s farmers. The latest update has just come out, and despite lower prices, it’s looking good.
Hemmes reflects on some of the accomplishments she’s most proud of during her time on the USB. Improving infrastructure and innovation are at the top of her list.
Coming up next time, we will talk with April about the places she’s been able to visit and the importance of engaging with not only our consumers but also our nation’s soybean farmers.
