La Nina might not be to blame for chilly temperatures

The cold temperatures we’ve seen recently in Iowa are a sure sign of one thing- winter is quickly approaching. Eric Snodgrass, principal atmospheric scientist at Conduit, said this week has been and will continue to be full of chilly air.

As we’ve talked about recently, now is the time to bring out the winter coats, as Snodgrass said that these temperatures will be sticking around for a while.

Many people have pointed their fingers towards La Nina as the cause, but Snodgrass said that this La Nina has actually been fairly disappointing. Instead, the focus should be on the winds in Japan.

Snodgrass added that this weather could stick through the holiday travel season, so it’s important to stay weather aware.
