With cooperative weather throughout much of the fall, harvest moved quickly and efficiently for most producers in 2024. It’s also allowing producers some much needed time for rest and relaxation at the end of one of the busiest times of the year for farmers.

That is USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey who says that the winter wheat crop is performing well in most areas.

Those pockets of dryness are found in states of the upper Midwest like South Dakota, says Rippey.

He says that some producers could be dealing with single digit temperatures soon.

USDA announced this week that 55% of the winter wheat crop is rated in good to excellent condition.
