Part of what checkoff dollars are used for is the continuing education of producers in the cattle industry. The needs of the consumer always are evolving, as is the care that is given to the herds. That is why state organizations like the Iowa Beef Industry Council (IBIC) use checkoff dollars to invest in these kinds of programs.
Right now, the IBIC is partnering with their counterparts in Wisconsin and Illinois to put together a training experience at the end of the month. The event is the Stockman & Stewardship workshop. It will be held on August 28th & 29th in Lancaster, WI, and features several great speakers and informational sessions.
IBIC Director of Industry Relations Casey Anderson tells us more about the event.
Anderson says it is a great continuing education opportunity for producers and gives them a chance to hear from experts that they wouldn’t always have the chance to hear from.
Anderson says that the event will also help you walk away with a BQA certification for their operation.
You can learn more and register by contacting the IBIC at iabeef.org. You can also register on the Stockman & Stewardship website.
