A diversified nitrogen plan can withstand a wet growing season

The goal of Pivot Bio microbial nitrogen is to have a reliable source of nitrogen available for when the plant needs nutrition during the critical growth stages of the growing season. Because the microbes bind to the root, they are available when the crop needs them most. This also means that Pivot Bio’s microbial nitrogen is more resilient than synthetic fertilizer and carries fewer concerns about nitrogen leaching and denitrification according to Clayton Nevins, a senior agronomic scientist with Pivot Bio.

Nevins says that very wet conditions in Iowa this growing season have led to nitrogen loss for growers using traditional synthetic nitrogen.

Nitrate leaching from heavy rain events and denitrification leads to less available nitrogen for crops says Nevins. He says that growers who use Pivot Bio’s microbial nitrogen get the benefit of a more resilient nitrogen source throughout the growing season.

Applied at planting Pivot Bio’s microbial nitrogen naturally adheres to the root. Nevins says this provides benefits early in the growing season.

The crop continues to see benefits from Pivot Bio microbial nitrogen throughout the middle growth stages and into tasseling says Nevins.

He says that Pivot Bio is always capturing data and information to demonstrate the efficacy of microbial nitrogen.

Nevins says that Pivot Bio is also getting ready to attend the 2024 Farm Progress Show which will be in Boone August 27th-29th.
