Iowa has continued to be a national and global leader in agriculture, holding the number one spot in the production of hogs, corn, and eggs. This obviously has a huge impact on the state’s economy, which was clearly shown in the 2024 Iowa Agriculture Economic Contribution Study from the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers. CSIF Executive Director Brian Waddingham said the ag industry continues to become more and more valuable to the state’s economy as a whole.
Much of that economic contribution comes from Iowa’s over 86,000 farms, which are mostly family owned.
On top of the monetary benefits, Waddingham said the ag industry is responsible for a huge number of jobs in the state.
Waddingham added that the CSIF aims to help Iowa livestock farmers grow while following the rules and regulations across the industry.
