It takes a lot of hard work to market our goods around the globe. American farmers have become so good at what they do to produce food to feed the world that we have more of it than we can consume. The global marketplace is a fickle thing because we aren’t the only ones who have been good at what we do. To keep the American farmer relevant in a growing global marketplace, we rely on the hard work of organizations such as the National Pork Board through the pork checkoff.
One of the things that our consumers think about is the sustainability we use to do a better job of producing pork and do a better job of taking care of the environment Courtney Knupp is the Vice President of International Market Development with the National Pork Board and she talks about using on farm sustainability data through checkoff-funded Pork Cares Farm Impact Reports to promote US pork in the global marketplace.
In fact, the work that we are doing with the pork checkoff and these programs has caught the attention of the International Standard Organization which gave us a certification for our industry’s flagship programs that help promote US pork around the globe.
Knupp also talks about the USDA overseas trade missions that have been a long and effective way to promote our products across the seas.
These trade missions show how US farmers are feeding people around the world.
Of course, none of this is possible without the work being done and the participation of US pork producers.
