Yesterday marked the ribbon cutting of Landus’ brand new 75,000-square-foot Fertilizer Production and Distribution Facility in Boone. The facility, which costs nearly $15 million, will produce sustainable, slow-release fertilizer products to bring environmentally and economically efficient fertilizer to Midwest farmers. Betsy Dirksen Londrigan, USDA Rural Development Administrator, said the USDA contributed $4.9 million towards the funding of the construction through a rural grant program.
Londrigan said coops like Landus are great models for how farmers should be represented in the industry.
Londrigan said the current administration has had a significant focus on investing in rural communities and allowing them to thrive.
Londrigan added that investing in rural communities like this is a great way to meet goals for both sustainability and economic growth.
