White mold is a disease that affects soybeans primarily in the northern U.S. soybean producing states and is identified by a fluffy, white growth on soybean stems. While it may not get as much attention as soybean cyst nematode, it is also a significant yield reducer causing millions of dollars in yield loss every year.
Cool and wet seasons often lead to more instances of white mold which thrives in the cooler growing regions of the country. Clark Smith, U.S. fungicides product manager at Corteva, says that growers will soon have a new way to fight against white mold.
Because of the threat to yields, Smith says that soybean growers in cooler northern states need new tools to help keep white mold in check.
Viatude fungicide contains its two effective modes of action in an all-in-one premix. Smith says that Viatude offers preventative and curative action on white mold to reduce disease infection.
Viatude is EPA registered and has received registration in most northern soybean growing states and will be available for the 2024 growing season.
