This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. -1 John 5:14
Prayer is powerful. I don?t think we fully realize how powerful it is when we call on the name of the Lord.
Do we really believe that prayer works, and that He truly hears?
Answers are found in prayer. God answers prayer. The problem we end up having with prayer, is that it?s not always answered in the way we expect it to be.
You’ve been praying for faith, and before you know it you are laid off, your family has to trust that God will provide with the little you have. Faith.
You?ve been praying for Him to instill more wisdom on you. Over the course of time you find out your daughter has been suffering from an eating disorder. You now know how to help other moms that are going through the same thing. Wisdom.
You?re nightly prayers are asking the Lord to make his dreams become your dreams. A couple of months later you feel the call to sell everything you own and move to another country embarking in full-time missions work. Surrender.
Our prayers are often self focused. We bow down on bent knees hoping our God (who often is treated like a genie) will grant our desired wish.
When we pray for something, we expect the outcome to be just the way we want it.
However, that?s the thing about prayer, we are humbly giving it over to the Lord. When we humbly give it over to the Lord, that means that it isn?t going to be as we wish, but how He wants. He always answers our prayers, just in ways we would not have done.
To be honest, I really like when things go my way, and when they don?t it?s hard for me to handle it with a joyful attitude.
However, as time goes on, I?m learning that we should be rejoicing things don?t always go our way.
Why should I determine the outcome I want, over the creator of the world? He knows what is right, and what should happen. What gives me the right to think that I know better than He?
I?m not implying that you should stop praying for faith, or provision. I’m simply saying God is faithful, and he does answer prayer!
You’ve heard the saying be careful what you wish for?. Well, be careful what you pray for because God hears and He will answer your prayer.
Are you ready for him to answer it HIS way? ?.if not, why pray for it?
Prayer: “Lord, thank you that I can be fully in communication with you. Thank you that you hear my heart, cries, and concerns. Help me to trust in how you handle my request. In your name I pray, Amen.”
