There has been much contention over what is the definition of milk and other dairy products. There are many products out there with these kinds of labels. For example, there is almond milk. Dairy producers usually respond by asking how one would milk an almond. The argument goes on and on. Now, there is bipartisan legislation aimed at making the definition clear. The Dairy Pride Act.

The National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) is urging Congress to act on the bill introduced in both houses earlier this month. The legislation would force the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to define what is and is not a dairy food. NMPF?s Chris Galen explains.

As Galen explains, these definitions are already on the books, the FDA is just lax on enforcement.

Galen says all they want to do is provide clarity from misleading product names.

Galen urges the FDA to do its job.
