Every year, corn rootworm finds a way to cause problems in the fields of farmers across the country. As a highly adaptable pest, it?s a challenge every year to find the best ways to manage and prevent the damage the worms cause. That?s why it?s so important to have multiple modes of action against corn rootworm. Ryan Tichich, Bayer Crop Science?s Agronomic Systems Lead for North America, said they have two products to help producers- SmartStax Pro and VT4PRO.
Since corn rootworm is so adaptable, Tichich said it?s incredibly important to have stacked traits.
Traits alone won?t completely protect you from corn rootworm, though. Tichich said farmers need to stay on their toes and use good management practices as well.
Tichich said that farmers can also look forward to the arrival of VT4PRO on the marketplace, which will offer an even wider spectrum of insect control.
Tichich also offered a look at what else is on Bayer?s product pipeline.
