Recently, Iowa 2nd District Congresswoman Ashley Hinson joined in sending a bipartisan letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in order to spur some action on year-round E15. Last year, we saw the summertime moratorium get lifted, which was great to see, but it wasn?t permanent, and now we are back in the same position. Hinson said we have the infrastructure to meet consumer demand for cheaper fuel this summer, so year-round E15 should be a commonsense decision.
President Biden?s State of the Union Address didn?t provide much reassurance for ethanol producers either. In fact, there wasn?t a single mention of agriculture in his speech. Hinson said that, while this was disappointing, she still hopes that the Biden administration will be willing to come to the table and talk E15.
Hinson added that year-round E15 could be set in stone with some simple legislation, and they?ll continue to make sure that other legislation won?t interfere with E15 production.
