National Pork Producers Council President Jen Sorenson says the organization is thrilled to welcome Iowa native Bryan Humphreys to the team as CEO.
On Wednesday, NPPC announced Humphreys will succeed the retiring Neil Dierks on December 21st. Dierks had served in the role for the last 20 years. Sorenson tells IARN that Humphreys brings with him years of experience in the pork industry.
?He got his start right out of college working on political campaigns,? Sorenson said. ?Then he actually joined the NPPC staff setting up our grassroots leader program and activating and deploying those so essential grassroots efforts on behalf of U.S. pork producers. He?s a proven state executive leading the Ohio Pork Producers Association for a number of years. More recently, he joined the National Pork Board as the Vice President of Producer, State and Industry Relations. He definitely is very understanding of the U.S. pork industry and has a clear plan and strategic vision on where we need to go.?
Sorenson also reflected on the legacy Neil Dierks leaves behind with his retirement.
?What a tremendous leader we have in Neil Dierks,? Sorenson said. ?We just can?t thank him enough for his over 30 years of service. He is so intelligent. He?s full of dignity, integrity and grace. He led us through such trying times over the last few decades. We just can?t thank him enough for his service. He leaves a lasting legacy. Luckily, he will be around through this transition advising Bryan, advising the board, and making sure we don?t miss anything through this critical transition.?
Humphreys is originally from Columbus Junction, Iowa, where he grew up on his family farm. Humphreys earned a bachelor?s from Iowa State University and a master?s degree from George Washington University. Today, Humphreys resides outside of Des Moines, Iowa, with his wife and son.
