It is planting season and the management decisions of growers will be put to the test over the course of the growing season. What type of soybeans to plant, when to plant, and a protection plan for those soybeans all will ultimately determine the final yield numbers.
Clint Chaffer is the Asgrow Brand Manager at Bayer Crop Science and he says that at this point of the year seed companies are already looking to 2024. However, the 2023 line is available for growers to plant right now.
Chaffer says the traits and technology that go into each bag of seed have made yield increases possible year over year.
He says that in addition to choosing the right soybean seed a grower needs to adjust their management practices in order to produce higher yields.
Clint Chaffer spoke with the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network at Commodity Classic 2023 in Orlando Florida.
