As the tractors are starting to roll in Iowa, being ready is something we have been talking about for a few weeks. The soil temps just today are finally above 50 across the state, which means spring fertilizer is ready. The tractors, tillage equipment, and planters have all been inspected, repaired, and lubricated. That means they are ready. The seeds and crop protection products have been delivered. So, they too are ready.
But what about you? Are you ready?
John Deere wants to know.
They don?t just want to know if you are ready to hit the fields. They want to know if you are ready to take the next step in your precision ag plans.
Ryan Jardon is with John Deere, and we caught up with him at Commodity Classic. He says that John Deere is ready to provide you with the tools to maximize every acre. That includes the new in-cab tools we talked about earlier. But it also starts with the improvements to the Model Year 2024 tractors.
Tire inflation is one of the newer factors we are really homing in on to help reduce compaction and extend the life of your tires. While farmers know that proper inflation is key, do you know that different inflation levels on the road and in the field can make a difference? Most of you don?t bring an air compressor with you to constantly adjust the pressure, so John Deere has decided to do that for you with CTIS.
When we hear the word autonomy, we may get that perception of movies where the machines become self-aware and rise up. You can rest assured that is not anything close to what John Deere is working on. What they ARE doing is giving us the possibility to give the tractor all the experience we have, so that it can do the job to our specifications, when we need to go at a certain time, and labor isn?t always available.
Jardon adds that if you get used to the new tools now, you will be ready for the day you need to use autonomy. This includes their mobile app as well.
