It?s already been talked to death before the seeds were even in the ground. Producers all know that we can?t afford any preventable losses in production this year. So, what are our chances of getting to our production goals?
USDA has set a lofty corn production goal for 2022 of 181 bushels per acre. That?s after a 2021 record of 177 bushels per acre. Ag Economist David Widmar says that it is always impossible to make predictions this early in the year.
Widmar adds that 181 is going to be a tough target to hit. He adds that the last few years have been below the trendline estimates.
Widmar says that with only having a small percentage of corn planted, Widmar says he feels that we have a 62% chance of making it to 181.
