Iowa Congressmen and Senators send letter to EPA about Renewable Fuel Standards for 2017 and 18.
The letter, was signed by Iowa Congressmen David Young, Rod Blum, Steve King, and Dave Loebsack, and Iowa Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst, was sent to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. The letter urges the EPA to use this year as an opportunity to commit to getting the RFS back on track, and pointed to Iowa’s role as the premier renewable fuels producer in the nation.

?This makes a point in the letter to take it up to the RFS? standard and let?s also pay attention to our biodiesel people who may have got treated better this time but in the previous decision got treated worse,? King says.
Iowa?s 2nd District U.S. Congressman Dave Loebsack says it?s not totally out of the question for congress to work together on this issue.
?It?s a complete no brainer. It makes total sense for us to work together. You all know it?s about our economy, it?s about our farmers, it?s about our nation being independent,? Loebsack says.
David Young is a U.S. Congressman for Iowa?s 3rd District.
?We?re just asking the EPA to obey the law. We think it is very important you obey the law and the law is enforced. It ?s a big deal it is not just about the economy and we do know though the strength of Iowa?s economy is based on the strength of our agriculture rural economy,? Young says.
Young, Loebsack and King spoke about the letter at the 10th Annual Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit Tuesday in Altoona.
The letter also highlighted the critical need for the RFS, which works to provide consumers with fuel choices, increase energy independence, boost rural economies, and protect the environment.
