KWBG signed on the air in January of 1950. While the format and personalities have changed, the station?s commitment to providing Boone County with local news, sports and weather has remained constant. In fact, the station?s call letters are said to stand for ?Keep Watching Boone Grow.?
KWBG has had three different locations, but the station will soon move to their own free-standing building in downtown Boone.
Community Involvement: KWBG is the only source for all things happening in and around Boone County. The station offers exclusive coverage of Boone, Ogden and Madrid sports teams.
The community heavily relies on KWBG for information regarding county and city governments, schools and funeral announcements. AM 1590 serves as a go-to station for county information.
Jim Turbes is the ?Voice of Boone County? and Ryan Wendt brings enthusiasm to his local play-by-play.
