Rokala Public Affairs President Mark Rokala, says someone is needed at USDA with the budget about to be done.
?Everyone is anticipating a 10 percent cut across all of these programs. Congress has to finish the fiscal year 2017. The continuing resolution runs out April 28. The administration can help with proposals, but it will be appropriations who will put together spending.?
Rokala, who represents some agriculture groups on Capitol Hill, thinks the upper Midwest can take some comfort with North Dakota Senator John Hoeven as Chairman of the Senate Ag Appropriations subcommittee.
?He?s been a strong supporter of agriculture. His staff understands agriculture. He gets it. That will certainly be helpful toward the upper Midwest agriculture industry.?
