USB Executive Committee looks to increase demand in 2025

The United Soybean Board (USB) tirelessly promotes the soy industry here and abroad. By funding the Soybean Checkoff, they are building a strong return on investment for every dollar farmers invest.

Iowa Farmer Rob Ewoldt knows first-hand what the USB’s work is doing to bring value to our crops, and what the problems could be if we weren’t getting that ROI during a time when profit margins are tight. He is a member of the USB’s Executive Committee. He talks about the challenge facing the board when prices aren’t as good as we would like them to be.

Ewoldt is concerned that farmers will have to raise an almost perfect bumper crop this year to overcome low prices and high input costs. He says farmers are really depending on industry partners to find expanded uses for soybeans.

Part of the way we build that demand is to look for new customers. We have talked at length with soybean promoters about how we are expanding our global footprint in the marketplace with a message of quality vs quantity. Ewoldt talks about how that message is getting out.

Ewoldt adds that by getting in front of the global consumers he can tell our story in an insightful way that also helps promote how we are trying to be more sustainable, efficient, and quality-driven with our products.

We will learn more from Ewoldt’s experiences on the committee tomorrow.
