U.S. Drought Monitor is status quo for Iowa once again

The U.S. Drought Monitor didn?t show any significant changes in drought conditions this week for Iowa, which is both a good and bad thing. On one hand, it?s nice that nothing got worse, but, on the other hand, we really need to see these drought conditions start to improve. Iowa State Climatologist Dr. Justin Glisan provided a rundown of this week?s report.

Glisan added that the D-0 designation, which is not quite drought conditions, has spread slightly throughout the southern counties.

Northwest Iowa is still struggling with D-3 drought. Some farmers are even chopping silage up that way. Glisan said that, despite the rains they received last week, they?re still facing major precipitation deficits.
