U.S. agriculture exports are expected to face headwinds in Fiscal Year 2025 that will drive an estimated $4 billion drop in exports. Lower commodity prices are one big factor but USDA Chief Economist Seth Meyer says that a confluence of issues could challenge United States ag exports.

USDA is projecting Fiscal Year 2025 agricultural exports at $169.5 billion, that is a decrease of $4 billion compared to 2024.

That is USDA Chief Economist Seth Meyer who says that depressed commodity prices are only one concern. The state of China’s economy will factor heavily into the outcome for U.S. exports.

While exports continue to drop, imports are on the rise. USDA says that it is projecting the agricultural trade deficit to increase sharply to a record $42.5 billion in the coming fiscal year.
