Iowa-based Stine Seed Company is proud to recognize and honor women in agriculture each year.
According to Jessica Drake ? marketing coordinator for Stine ? each spring the company encourages individuals interested in celebrating Women in Agriculture Day in Iowa to share their stories and participate in the conversation on social media by using the hashtag #TogetHER4Ag.
?In 2019, we decided as a Stine organization that we would like to bring awareness to women in agriculture,? said Drake. ?After some research, we realized there was no day dedicated to women in agriculture. We partnered with Farm Her, the Iowa FFA Foundation and Iowa 4-H to work with the Governor?s office to have a proclamation signed where women?s history month and national agriculture week meet up in March. Every year is now an annual recognition of women in agriculture in Iowa.?
Drake says more than 50,000 women serve in leadership, support and influential decision-making roles in Iowa across the state?s over 86,000 farms.
?We?ve been able to feature women from all different sectors of agriculture,? said Drake. ?Our efforts are surrounding empowering women to continue to be involved, educating young women on all the different roles within different sectors of agriculture, and then just continuing to elevate those that are currently playing such a vital role in agriculture as a whole.?
In addition to the proclamation, Stine celebrates women in agriculture throughout March by publishing blogs and videos highlighting inspirational women in the industry.
