Social Security benefits, which are critical for elderly rural residents, are going to increase by 3.2% this year. That averages out to about $59 more per month. However, AARP Oklahoma State Director Sean Voskuhl said it’s a significantly lower increase than last year.
Voskuhl said that, if you are enrolled in Medicare, there’s a good chance that you have premiums for Part B deducted directly from your Social Security payments.
Additionally, scammers love this time of year since they know those increased payments are starting to go out. Voskuhl offered some tips to keep everyone safe from those scams.
