Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa are gearing up for the 39th Annual Governor?s Charity Steer Show during the 2021 Iowa State Fair.
IARN recently attended a Governor?s Charity Steer Show kickoff event at the Ronald McDonald House in Sioux City. During the kickoff, RMHC of Siouxland executive director Christy Clark introduced the area youth who will be exhibiting on behalf of the Sioux City location.
?Our steer exhibitor this year is 4-H student Kami Schrunk,? said Clark. ?Kami is 12 years old and is from Anthon, Iowa. She has been raising a steer that she calls ?Dash,? but now that she is representing a Ronald McDonald House, it will be ?McDash? in the show. We are excited for McDash and Kami to be shown.?
?We are also excited for our celebrity this year,? Clark continued, ?It?s Dr. Erin Schroeder from Heartland Docs, DVM.?
After a switch for COVID last year, the Governor?s Charity Steer Show will be back at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in 2021. The event ? which raises funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa ? will be held Saturday, August 14th at 4:30 p.m. at the Livestock Pavilion.
?We have huge gratitude for what the Iowa Cattlemen?s Association, the Iowa Beef Industry Council, the Governor?s office and everyone does to help us out and put this on,? said Clark. ?This is a very big deal. It?s a big fundraiser and all of the money that?s raised will come back to make a huge impact on the families that we serve.?
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds plans to participate in this year?s show, which has been a top priority among Iowa?s governors for the past 39 years.
