Significant savings through targeting weeds directly

Weeds are one of the biggest threats to crop production and precision agriculture is continuing to make leaps and bounds in weed fighting technology. The Greeneye Technology sprayer system was launched in 2022 and this fall was the second commercial season for the aftermarket smart spraying system.

The Greeneye Technology precision spraying system is an aftermarket product compatible with a customers’ sprayer that they already own. The system uses cameras and sensors on the sprayer boom to identify weeds, and precision apply herbicide.

Greeneye CEO Nadav Bocher says that the 2023 growing season was the second commercial season for the company’s smart sprayers in the Midwest.

The precision application of herbicide can save farmers significant money says Bocher.

According to Farmers Business Network, trials at the University of Nebraska Lincoln found that the Greeneye smart sprayer provided significant reductions in non-residual herbicide use, with at least 87% reduction.

Despite the significant potential savings, Bocher says that farmers are not necessarily surprised to find out how much they can save on reducing chemical use.

Greeneye Technology in collaboration with FBN is currently taking commitments for the 2024 crop season.
