United States Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) made his annual visit to the Iowa State Fair on Friday and stopped by to discuss the latest Iowa ag issues. Grassley tells the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network that he has made at least one visit to the Iowa State Fair each year since 1974.
Senator Chuck Grassley says that the disagreement in Congress concerning the farm bill falls along partisan lines and is likely leading to another one-year extension of the 2018 bill.
Grassley has been critical of used cooking oil imports from China being used as a feedstock for renewable fuels. He says that they should be scrutinized more closely to determine that all the oil has been previously used for cooking.
The EPA recently announced that the biofuel blending volumes will not be finalized for 2026-2028 until December 2025 when the final RVOs are released.
Grassley says that the EPA’s timeline is wasting critical time.
Senator Grassley wrapped up Friday’s discussion by mentioning that his favorite food at the Iowa State Fair is the Iowa Pork Producers Association’s porkchop on a stick.
