Senate Ag Committee hears from Growth Energy about waiver concerns

There has been recent concern over the continuation of waivers and exemptions to the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). The Trump administration granted waivers to oil companies like they were handing out Halloween candy. Two EPA Administrators under Trump came to Iowa to say they would back off, both fell very short in fulfilling those promises.

The Biden administration and the EPA under Michael Regan recently leaked the possibilities of those exemptions still going forward. Something the President campaigned against.

Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor testified before the Senate Ag Committee about Biden?s promise to reverse the trend. A promise he made right here in Iowa.

Skor highlighted the economical and ecological benefits of a nationwide upgrade to E15, and the continued presence of ethanol and biodiesel in any energy plans for the country.

?These economic benefits would coincide with well-established environmental advantages offered by E15. A previous study released by Growth Energy demonstrated that a nationwide transition from E10 to E15 would lower greenhouse gas emissions by 17.62 million tons annually ? the equivalent of removing approximately 3.85 million vehicles from the road.?

Advocates for biofuels on both sides of the aisle have been making their case to the EPA and the White House.
