Seed selection is important, but don’t overlook seed placement

Even though harvest season has just gotten underway in Iowa, growers are already thinking about and making plans for the 2025 growing season. Bryan Perry is the head of U.S. seeds and traits at BASF and he says that as farmers prepare for next season, they need to be thinking not only about making the right seed selection but also striving to get the best seed placement in their fields to ensure optimal yields.

For the 2025 season, growers will have the option to choose new genetics developed by BASF as part of its Xitavo soybean seed line says Perry.

Even with lower commodity prices and input costs not dropping in price, Perry says that farmers still need to stick to a well-rounded crop management plan in order to ensure the best yields.

Weather is unpredictable from season to season and therefore Perry says it is important for growers to focus on the things that they can control by selecting the correct seed for their operation.
