“Ring of fire” weather will keep Iowa hot and humid

Seems like this week’s hot temperatures were just a taste of what’s in store for next week. Iowa State Climatologist Dr. Justin Glisan said next week is supposed to have high temperatures and plenty of rainfall due to a “ring of fire” weather configuration.

Glisan said those storms will be appreciated, because believe it or not, we are behind on precipitation for the month of June.

The corn crop will also be releasing plenty of moisture into the air, which Glisan said will increase relative humidity and provide plenty of fuel for storms.

The high temperatures and humidity will also pose as health risks for both humans and livestock, so make sure to take it easy if you have to be outside and stay hydrated.
