Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Geoff Cooper told the 30th annual National Ethanol Conference that ethanol has boosted the farm economy in the past and can do so once again.
At the same conference two decades ago, Cooper said that the Renewable Fuel Standard created a thriving market for renewable fuels that helped many family farmers avoid tough economic times.
Cooper says the new Trump Administration needs to decide to “throw more money at the problem” with more ad hoc payments or help farmers “grind their way out” of financial difficulties. One of the ways in which the administration can make an immediate impact is by supporting new year-round E15 legislation, says Cooper.
Year-round E15 was cut from stop gap funding legislation in December, leaving just 8 Midwest states with year-round sales of E15. Cooper says that the President has already given his opinion on other E15 hurdles.
Cooper says year-round sales would provide an immediate lift to the farm economy.
That was Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Geoff Cooper.
