After one of the driest starts in recorded history for October, the end of the month brought plenty of rain. At this point, the weather is now continuing with a wetter pattern. Justin Glisan, state climatologist for Iowa, gave an update on the latest conditions.
Since the soil was so dry before it rained, most of the rain was able to soak deep into the soil- in fact, there weren’t very many observable puddles.
Glisan said it’s also not quite the time to apply anhydrous yet, since the soil temps are still not within the range for optimal application.
Glisan also provided an update on what conditions we need to see before the soil freezes this year.
