There are a lot of exciting opportunities for growth and development in the ag bioprocessing industry. Doug Berven, vice president of corporate affairs at POET, said they are investing in that future by promoting college-level education in the field and by opening new facilities throughout the Midwest, which includes a new biomass facility in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
Berven said the bioprocessing degrees and certifications will do a great job of showcasing the potential of agriculture.
Even as electric vehicles begin to become more popular, combustion engines will be around for the foreseeable future. That means we’ll need clean and efficient fuel to power them. Berven said biofuels offer an answer to that need, so it’s important to make sure that people understand the benefits they can provide.
Berven also talked about the new biomass facility in Emmetsburg, Iowa, and how it will work to reduce carbon emissions and create even cleaner ethanol.
