The National Pork Industry Forum is one of the most important industry events of the year. The event, which is a joint annual business meeting of the National Pork Producers Council and the National Pork Board, is taking place right now in Orlando, Florida. Duane Stateler, the new president of the NPPC, said it’s an important meeting for the country’s pork industry.

Stateler said it’s important to make sure that pork producers can see that both organizations are working hard to represent the nation’s pork industry.

Stateler said pork producers across the country have a variety of policy priorities, with Prop 12 and free trade being some of the top items.

As the Trump administration and Congress continue working on their agendas, Stateler said there will challenges ahead for the NPPC when it comes to making sure that U.S. pork remains a worldwide protein.
